SPEAKER OF THE YEAR
Coincident Speaker Technology is very excited to announce the introduction of the Super Victory II . What makes this speaker so special is that it offers state of the art design, construction and performance in a compact, aesthetically pleasing form that is priced far below what one would expect to pay for this high level of achievement.
The Super Victory will sound superb in small to moderate size rooms as well being highly capable of easily filling a large space. They can be positioned as close as 18” from a back wall without suffering the deleterious sonic affects of reduced front to back depth. Their high sensitivity, smooth 10 ohm impedance modulus, simple first order crossover, phase coherency both acoustically and electrically all ensure that SET 300B, 211 or even 2A3 tube amplifiers will mate optimally. The Super Victory’s high power handling capability will mean that large power tube and solid state amplifiers will also work beautifully for audiophiles who favor those types of amplifiers. As always with Coincident speakers, amplifier choice is a personal one.
Improving upon the award winning ( Stereomojo Speaker of the Year, Best Medium Speaker at CES, TAS Editor’s Choice Award) Super Victory is no easy task, but the new Super Victory II has done just that. While the tweeter and midrange remain the same the improvements are as follows:
1. Woofer – The latest developments in state of the art woofer design has now been incorporated into the SV II. The new unit is based upon the previous one but the cone material has been changed from Nomex to aluminum. The sonic result is slightly higher output capabilities and reduced distortion levels at the lowest frequencies.
2. Slanted Front Baffle – The front baffle now has a 4″ slant. Not only is the visual appeal of the speaker greatly enhanced, the slanted baffle creates perfect time alignment between the drivers. Sonically this translates to a wider soundstage with a greater sense of focus. Due to absolute phase coherence, the tweeter and midrange are perfectly seamless and closely mimic a single driver.
3. Flush Mounted Tweeter – The tweeter is now flush mounted instead of the previous surface mounting. This creates a sleeker visual aesthetic and simultaneously reduces diffraction affects. The high frequencies sound that much purer.
4. Crossover– Due to the above changes, the crossover has been further optimized to take advantage of all the improvements incorporated in the SV Extreme.
The Super Victory II has taken a breakthrough product and the finest value in speakers and made it better. All the sonic attributes that made the Super Victory world renowned have been retained and enhanced.
